5 Ways to Make Your Party more Eco-Friendly

At Jolista, we're on a journey towards sustainability and we're excited to share how you can join us in being more eco-conscious while celebrating! Together, we can make a positive impact on our planet!ย

1. Choose Eco-Friendly Party Supplies ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ’š

When planning your party, opt for party supplies made of more eco-friendly materials:
  • Look for paper decorations like paper party fans, paper honeycomb decorations, and paper banners made of FSC or recycled paper.
  • Use natural materials like wooden or bamboo utensils and plates for a rustic and eco-friendly touch.
  • Choose compostable bamboo and wooden cutlery for your table.
  • Choose balloons made from biodegradable natural latex โ€” they may be more expensive than the ones you find at big box stores or amazon but they are a more eco friendly choice and more durable. Not to mention they come in a dazzling array of colours so you can find the perfect colour palette for your event!
  • Use eco-friendly paper confetti or natural confetti (like dried flowers)

By choosing eco-friendly party supplies, you're making a positive impact on the planet and setting a green example for your guests.

2. Reuse and Re-purpose your Partyware โ™ป๏ธ๐ŸŒฟ

Opt for durable party supplies that you can reuse or repurpose. Fabric banners are durable and can be reused for other parties or repurposed in a bedroom as home decor. Look at reusable fabric tablecloths or napkins made of natural linens and reusable bamboo fibre plates for your table.ย  By choosing reusable partyware, you're reducing waste and taking a step towards a more sustainable celebration.ย

3. Decorate with Natural Elements ๐ŸŒฟ

Consider decorating with natural elements like potted plants, wild flowers, and branches.ย  After the party, you can plant the potted plants or compost the natural decorations, reducing waste and giving back to the environment. For party favours, give your guests a potted flower or a package of wildflower seeds to plant in their garden.

4. Reduce Food Waste โ™ป๏ธ๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ

Food waste is a major contributor to environmental degradation. To reduce food waste at your party, plan your menu carefully and only prepare what you know will be consumed. Use reusable or compostable plates, cups, and utensils for serving food, and provide labeled bins for compost and recycling to make it easy for guests to dispose of waste properly. Set up clearly labeled bins for compost, recycling, and landfill waste.
